Meaning:
"Take a hike" is another way to tell someone to go away. It is not polite but it isn't so rude that it can't be used in children's movies. Nobody would be happy to hear this.
"Take a hike" とは、誰かに「あっちに行って」と言う言い方です。丁寧な言い方ではないですが、子供向けの映画で使えないほど失礼な表現でもありません。これを聞いて喜ぶ人はいないですが。
Example:
A: Did you watch The Bachelor last night?
B: No, I was too busy working on this project.
A: Well, let me tell you about it...
B: Actually, I'm still working on the project right now so could you just take a hike?
A: 昨夜の「バチェラー」見た？
B：いや、このプロジェクトで忙しかったから。
A: じゃあ、教えてあげるよ...。
B: 実は、今まだこのプロジェクトやってるからあっち行ってくれない？
