Less is more
2019.08.22
Meaning:
‘Less is more’ means ‘Simple is better’. You can use this in many situations. For example, if your friend is wearing too much make-up, you can say, ‘Less is more’. This would mean ‘You should not wear so much make-up. You will look better.’
Example:
A: I made cheeseburgers last night - with onions, tomatoes, lettuce, mushrooms, bacon, an egg, mustard, ketchup, and mayonnaise.
B: Were they good?
A: Um…maybe there were too many flavours. Sometimes less is more.
A: (coughs) Wow! You have a lot of perfume on!
B: You’re probably right. Do you think I'm also wearing too much make-up??
A: Well... less is more!
Talking Point(s):
