Busted!

Meaning:
‘Busted’ is an adjective with many meanings. Most simply, it means ‘broken’. So you can say, ‘Be careful; that chair is busted.’ or ‘I played soccer and now my foot’s busted.’ We can also use it to say, ‘My marriage is busted’ or ‘My business is busted’; it still means broken. However, another common meaning for busted is ‘getting caught for doing bad – illegal, immoral or just embarassing’. For example, if I came home and found my son eating *my* chocolate, I could say, ‘Aha! Busted!’
Example:
(A and B are brother and sister)
A: What are you doing?
B: Just looking for something…
A: No, you weren’t! You were trying to take some cash out of Mum’s wallet! Oh my God! You are so busted!
