Meaning:
Maybe you know the expression ‘runny nose’. A runny nose is watery – drips come out of your nose. But a stuffy nose (also called a blocked nose) is even worse than a runny nose. A stuffy nose (or blocked nose) is when your nose feels like it is a rock! You cannot breathe through your nose, so you breathe through your mouth. Sometimes we get a stuffy nose because we have allergies, sometimes we get a stuffy nose from a cold.
Example:
A: Ugh. My nose is so blocked.
B: Oh? Do you have a cold?
A: No. I have allergies. Usually I just get a runny nose, but sometimes my allergies give me a stuffy nose. Right now my nose is so stuffy that I can’t sleep properly.
B: That’s rough. You should go to the doctor!
