日本のことわざの「鉄は熱いうちに打て」や「思い立ったが吉日」と同じ意味です。好機を逃すなという表現ですね。
★この表現は、「太陽が出るうちに干し草をつくりなさい」ということわざです。干し草は濡れると腐るので、雨に濡らさないように天気を気にして作らねばならないことから、訪れた好機を逃さず、積極的に生かすべきという例えになりました。
