Meaning:
'A hill to die on' means an issue which feels very, very important to you (but maybe only you). You will fight for it even if it costs a lot.
「hill to die on」は「自分にとても大事な課題」の意味です。どうしても解決したいこと、まさに「「死ぬべき丘」ぐらいの大切さです（自分だけかもしれません）。
Example:
A: I'm going to break up with my boyfriend... I asked him to stop using my shampoo, but he keeps doing it...
B: Wow, breaking up because of shampoo? Is this really the hill you want to die on?
A: ああ、もう彼氏と別れる。私のシャンプーを使うなと言ってるのに、何回もやり続けて。。
B:マジで、シャンプーのせいで別れるの？そんなに自分にとって大事なこと？
