Meaning:
“Burn bridges" means to damage or destroy relationships, typically by behaving in a way that makes it difficult to work or associate with someone in the future.
"Burn bridges"とは、関係に傷を入れたり、壊したりすることを意味し、将来誰かと仕事をしたり付き合ったりするのが、困難になるような振る舞いをすることを通常表します。
★橋を燃やす＝繋がりを無くす。日本語だと「縁を切る」という表現をつかいますね。
Example:
A: Why did you quit your job so abruptly?
B: Well, I didn't agree with how things were being handled, so I decided to speak my mind. I might have burned some bridges with my boss.
A: なんでそんな急に仕事辞めちゃったの？
B: まあ、物事の扱われ方に賛成できなくてね。だから、自分の考えを話すことにしたんだ。上司との縁を切ってしまったかもしれない。
