touchy-feely
2018.02.21
Meaning:
Do you like hugs? Do you like sharing your feelings? If yes, we can call you a touchy-feely person. Being touchy-feely does *not* mean sexually harassing someone! It just means that you like body contact (& emotional contact too) with other people. However, touchy-feely does have a negative nuance: it sounds annoying. If I say someone is touchy-feely it means I probably don’t like hugs and sharing feelings so much.
Example:
A: Ugh. Julie is too much. She just offered me a head massage!
B: Oh. Did you feel scared?
A: Oh no, nothing like that. I just don’t like all that touchy-feely stuff.
B: Yeah – I remember when John tried to give you a hug to welcome you back. You looked so uncomfortable.
Talking Point(s):
Do you know any touchy-feely people?
