Mic Drop
2016.06.30
Meaning:
‘Mic Drop’ means ‘I just made a very good point! You cannot argue with my point! Bye bye’. Imagine you give a speech (via microphone) and you end your speech on a very good point. At that point, you could drop your microphone to be dramatic. That’s a mic drop.
The action of dropping the microphone was originally made famous by comedians like Eddie Murphy, but recently even President Obama has used it (as a joke; it is not suitable for formal situations).
Now, you do not need a microphone or even a speech to say ‘mic drop’. You just need to make a strong point.
Example:
A: You’re fat!
B: Well, you’re ugly…and I can diet. What are you going to do?
A: (silence)
B: Bam! Mic Drop!
Talking Point(s):
