Cheesy

2018.12.12

Meaning:

Cheesy has two meanings.
1. It is an adjective to describe something that has lots of cheese in it.
2. It can also mean: cheap, fake, the opposite of classy. The man in the picture has what we call ‘a cheesy grin’. This means he has a big smile – and it looks fake.

Example:

A: Did you see the politician apologise on TV last night?
B: Yeah, but I don`t believe that he`s sorry. He had a big cheesy grin on his face.

A: Hey – those are beautiful flowers, aren’t they?
B: Ugh, no! I hate fake flowers. They’re so cheesy.

Talking Point(s):

Do you know any movies that are cheesy? How were they cheesy?
